Detail of monastic choir setup, St. George the Martyr church in Kaunas
The detail of monastic choir setup represents a picture of a monk, painted on canvas and fixed to the wooden board. Examination of the UV induced fluorescence didn’t disclose any repaints, as the surface is covered with a of fluorescent varnish layer. However, infrared photography revealed composition details of earlier paint layer and major changes can be observed –a sword instead of a currently visible cross in monk’s hand, changes in the shape of the hood and other details can be identified.
