Roman society visits the ruins of Titus thermae

P Smuglevičius (1745-1807), paper, ink, watercolor, 49x53,4cm.
The artwork has been examined under infrared and ultraviolet radiation, infrared „false colour“ analysis has also been carried out. Several traces of earlier restoration detected, previous mechanical damages of the paper support can be clearly seen in the UV fluorescence image. IR photograph reveals drawing details more clearly, and a “false colour” analysis allows to preliminary identify pigments. However, the pigments’ identification should be confirmed by chemical analysis. Any changes in composition or in-paints not detected.
