Winter Landscape with a Windmill

Dutch school. 19c. Oil on panel, 18,3 x 24,6cm. Private collection.
The aim of examination was to specify artwork's attribution and possibly date it, characterize the state of authentic paint layer. Traces of earlier restorations have been detected with UV fluorescence analysis, but the x-radiograph didn't reveal much information due to thick paint layer consisting of the lead white pigment on the back side. The inscription "Ecole hollandaise" can be clearly read in the reflected IR photograph of the back side of the painting. The genre of the painting, the technique and materials used show that it could be created not earlier than the first half of 19c by unknown dutch master.
